How registration works

    Submit your skill

    Upload the .mdc file you authored. We accept plain text manifests up to 1 MB.

  2. IIStep II

    We hash & timestamp

    A SHA-256 fingerprint is computed and anchored to UTC time of receipt. The exact bytes are stored.

  3. IIIStep III

    Pay the bureau

    One-time fee, paid securely via Stripe. €14.95 Basic or €39 Pro, no subscriptions, no auto-renewal.

  4. IVStep IV

    Receive your certificate

    A formal PDF certificate is issued bearing a unique SA- registration number, downloadable forever.

What your record looks like

Every registration produces a PDF certificate bearing the cryptographic fingerprint of your skill, the UTC moment of receipt, and a unique sequential registration number issued by the bureau.

Common questions

Does registering with SkillAuthor give me copyright?
No. Copyright arises automatically in most jurisdictions when a work is fixed in tangible form. SkillAuthor provides independent, cryptographic evidence of when a specific .mdc file existed and who claimed authorship — useful in disputes, attribution, and provenance, but not a substitute for legal counsel.
What if my skill is similar to one already registered?
We check exact byte matches (SHA-256). A semantic similarity check is in development and will warn you of close matches before payment, but it does not block registration.
Can I edit a registration after it has been issued?
No. Edits would defeat the purpose. If your skill evolves, register a new version — each version receives its own certificate and registration number.
Is my .mdc content public?
By default the registry shows the filename, hash, author name, and date. The Pro tier allows the content itself to be kept private while still anchoring its hash publicly.
What happens if SkillAuthor goes offline?
Your certificate PDF is self-contained and verifiable by anyone who can compute SHA-256. We also publish periodic Merkle-rooted snapshots of the registry for long-term archival.
